Welcome to First Presbyterian Church. We are a multi-generational congregation, and it is our desire to offer worship, education, and mission opportunities that address the spiritual needs of everyone. Wherever you are on the journey, know you are welcome here in worship, service and fellowship as we share God’s love and grow in faith.

We understand every church community has its own personality, and hope you’ll find that Kinston FPC is welcoming and friendly. Below is a list of frequently asked questions. If you would like to know more, we invite you to email our church office at info@fpckinston.org.

When are your worship services, and what are they like?

Sunday morning worship service is at 11am. Sunday school is offered at 9:45 am. Nursery is provided for both Sunday school and Sunday morning worship. We have a weekly Bible study each Wednesday, except in June, July, and August at 5:30 pm in the chapel. Special worship services, listed in our newsletter and calendar, are offered before and at Christmas and before and at Easter. Child care is offered for special services.

We are a multi-generational congregation, and our worship and music are planned to address the spiritual needs of all. We encourage children, youth and adult participation in the parts of worship. The sacrament of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated on special days of the church year. All are welcome to partake in this sacrament.

What should I wear?

FPC wants you to feel welcome to come and worship as you are. Most people come in “business casual” attire, but you will also see three-piece suits as well as jeans and shorts.

Where do I park?

A parking lot is available on Presbyterian Lane, beside the sanctuary. Side street parking is available on both Darby Avenue and Parrott Avenue with entrances into the sanctuary from both. Designated parking for persons with disabilities is marked in all 3 areas.

Where can I take my child?

FPC loves having children as part of the community of faith and has several Sunday morning options for them. A nursery is provided for young children, staffed by professional childcare workers, from 9:30 am until 12:15 pm. The nursery is located in the education wing which can be accessed from the sanctuary. Sunday school is offered for children and youth preschool through 12th grade from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. Children’s Church and Children’s Choir are offered as part of the worship experience. Children are escorted from worship to these activities following the Time for Young Disciples.

Does the church offer Sunday School classes?

Yes. On Sundays, from 9:45am-10:45 a.m., church school classes provide an opportunity for Bible study, discussion, community building, and making new friends.

How do I get connected and learn more about the church?

FPC is a large community to navigate, however, through many small group opportunities, studies, fellowship events, and opportunities to serve together, it’s easy to get connected. If you have questions, feel free to contact our pastor or our office.

How do I become a member of FPC?

To become a member of FPC, individuals make or renew a profession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior and make a commitment to serve as his disciple within this community of faith. Individuals meet with the church Session, elected leaders who represent the congregation, to share these commitments. The Session meets on the second Sunday evening of each month at 6:00 pm in the church parlor. To discuss joining FPC, please contact the pastor at 252-522-1921.

May I get married at FPC if I am not a member?

FPC does not ordinarily perform weddings for non-members. Please contact the Pastor to discuss any plans for a wedding.

May my child be baptized at FPC?

If you are interested in baptism, please contact the Pastor at 252-522-1921.
